Cardi B Shuts Down Critics Over Including Hits “WAP” & “Up” on New Album: “Fans Deserve This!”

Cardi B isn’t backing down from her decision to feature her smash singles “WAP” and “Up” on her upcoming album Am I The Drama?—and she’s making it clear she’s doing it for her fans, not the haters.

The Grammy-winning rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to address criticism after announcing her September 19 album release, which will include the two fan-favorite tracks. Some fans questioned why older hits would appear on a new project, but Cardi fired back with zero regrets.

“Let me say this ONE time—’WAP’ and ‘Up’ are two of my biggest songs EVER,” she wrote. “My fans beg me to put them on an album, and they’re still searched for daily. They deserve a proper home!”

She also revealed past hesitation about submitting “WAP” for Grammy consideration, admitting: “I let haters get in my head before, but now? I’m giving the people what they want!”

Addressing sales concerns, Cardi pointed out that since both songs were already released, they won’t count toward first-week numbers—making the backlash even more confusing to her. “Y’all stay crying but stay silent when artists pull every trick to boost sales,” she added, ending with a mic-drop: “Let them eat cake. Stay mad!”

Fans quickly flooded the replies—some cheering her stance (“Add ‘Press’ and ‘Money’ too!”), while others argued the album should focus solely on fresh material. So far, Cardi hasn’t engaged further, but one thing’s certain: she’s done explaining herself.
