The two play love interests in the comedy reboot of the iconic 1988 flick, and rumors have been swirling that their on-screen romance has spilled over into real life.

To make matters more interesting, the co-stars aren’t exactly quelling those rumors. They were caught playfully making out before their TODAY show appearance, then putting on a shocked act when the cameras panned over.

Once they sat down to chat about the film, Melvin decided to take one for the team and cut straight to the chase.

Melvin then shifted gears to talk about the movie itself, but he couldn’t resist one last dig at their supposed relationship before wrapping up.

“We want you to come back once things are official,” he told the… well, maybe couple?

As speculation keeps heating up, a source told People about the rumored romance: “It’s a new relationship, still in the early stages. But it’s genuine, and you can tell they’re really into each other.”
