The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot sequel boasts a fresh ensemble cast, including rising stars Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Sarah Pidgeon, Tariq Weathers, and Jonah Hauer-King. However, fans won’t see two previously announced actors, Lola Tung and Nicholas Alexander Chavez, in the final version—and Robinson has opened up about why.

In an exclusive interview with People, Robinson revealed that Tung and Chavez filmed what was meant to be the movie’s opening sequence. But during editing, she realized the scene, while strong on its own, didn’t mesh with the rest of the film.

“Every filmmaker goes in with a vision, but sometimes in the editing room, you have to make tough calls,” Robinson explained. “I loved their scene in isolation—it was fantastic. But when you see the bigger picture, it just didn’t fit the flow of the story.”

She was quick to praise the actors, emphasizing that the decision had nothing to do with their performances. “Lola and Nicholas were incredible—total professionals. I’d jump at the chance to work with them again,” she said. “But in the grand scheme of the film, this particular moment didn’t serve the narrative.”
