David Corenswet Playfully Roasts Superman Co-Star Nicholas Hoult Over Matching Outfits

The question is: Who rocked the look better?

David Corenswet couldn’t resist poking fun at his Superman co-star Nicholas Hoult after the two ended up wearing nearly identical outfits in New York City.

The newly cast Man of Steel was spotted in Midtown Manhattan sporting a crisp white tank top with matching trousers, a gray sweater draped over his shoulders, and sleek black boots—all while carrying a shopping bag (left).

Just days earlier, on June 30, Hoult—who plays Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman film—was photographed in an eerily similar ensemble (right).

Not one to let the coincidence slide, Corenswet took to Instagram on Wednesday, sharing side-by-side photos of their twinning moment with a hilarious caption:

“Dude’s been stealing my look since ’98.”

Hoult was quick to respond, flooding the comments with twin emojis before reposting Corenswet’s photo to his own story—complete with laughing and skull emojis and a soundtrack of Rosemary Clooney’s “Sisters.”

Even the official Superman account joined in on the fun, commenting, “Lex is always watching.” Co-star Sara Sampaio also chimed in with a string of laughing emojis.

The on-screen hero and villain have been anything but adversarial off-camera, frequently showcasing their playful dynamic during press tours and interviews. From goofy skits to heartfelt stories about their casting experiences, their camaraderie has been a highlight for fans.

Hoult reminisced about first meeting Corenswet during auditions, immediately recognizing him as the ideal Superman.

“When we shook hands, I remember thinking, ‘I’d be thrilled if this guy got the part,’” Hoult admitted. “I told him right then, ‘You’re perfect for this. Seriously.’”

Corenswet returned the praise, gushing over Hoult’s talent.

“I’ve been a fan of Nic’s work for years,” he shared. “The second I heard he signed on as Lex, I knew the movie was in great hands. A hero’s only as compelling as their villain, and we couldn’t have asked for better.”

Their lighthearted banter and mutual admiration have only heightened anticipation for the film—proving that even Superman and Lex Luthor can share a laugh.
