Best known for his role as Kenneth Parcell on 30 Rock and voicing Fix-It Felix in Wreck-It Ralph, Jack McBrayer has another unexpected claim to fame—his eclectic circle of famous friends.

The actor and comedian, who now hosts HGTV’s Zillow Gone Wild, recently sat down with TooFab to share hilarious and heartwarming stories about his friendships with True Blood star Alexander Skarsgård and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.
Alexander Skarsgård: More Than Just a Brooding Heartthrob
Though Skarsgård is often typecast as intense, brooding characters—from abusive husbands to Tarzan—McBrayer insists there’s much more to him. The two first bonded as neighbors in Los Angeles and later at award shows, where they represented 30 Rock and True Blood, respectively.
After over a decade of friendship—including starring in a Funny or Die sketch together—they finally shared the screen in Apple TV+’s Murderbot. Skarsgård plays a sentient robot obsessed with a soapy in-universe show, The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon, where McBrayer guest stars as a navigation officer.
“If you ever get the chance to do a TV show with your best friend, just say yes,” McBrayer told TooFab. “Alex was involved in developing Murderbot, and he casually suggested, ‘Hey, you should get Jack McBrayer for this part.’ And they actually went for it!”
Their on-screen reunion happened in a hallucination sequence, complete with wild wigs and costumes. “It was so much fun!” McBrayer laughed. “Alex is a total goofball, and I hope more people see that side of him instead of just ‘abusive Tarzan.’”
Gavin Rossdale and the Infamous “Invoice” Prank
Fans were surprised when Rossdale revealed that McBrayer had become a holiday staple for him and his kids after his split from Gwen Stefani. But the real shocker? The comedian once sent Rossdale a fake invoice for his “presence.”
“Okay, let me explain,” McBrayer said with a grin. “I’m big on thank-you notes—like, Zillow Gone Wild homeowners all get handwritten ones. That’s 30 houses this season alone! But with Gavin, after a while, I thought, ‘How do I top the last thank-you note?’ So I made him a joke invoice.”
The invoice included absurd charges like “exorbitant fee for small talk.” “He loved it,” McBrayer admitted. “We’ve been friends forever, and I’m so grateful to be part of his family’s celebrations. But hey, a little humor keeps things fresh!”
