Topping the list is hip-hop powerhouse Kendrick Lamar, who dominates the nominations with a staggering nine nods. His acclaimed album GNX and his chart-busting collaboration with SZA, “Luther,” have cemented his status as the artist to beat this season.
Hot on his heels with seven nominations each are the ever-dynamic Lady Gaga and two of the music industry’s most sought-after hitmakers, producers Jack Antonoff and Cirkut. The competition in the biggest categories—Album, Record, and Song of the Year—is incredibly tight, promising a ceremony full of suspense.

The race for Album of the Year is particularly fierce. Lamar’s GNX marks his fifth studio album in a row to be nominated in this top category, an unprecedented achievement. He faces stiff competition from Lady Gaga’s synth-driven masterpiece MAYHEM and a historic entry from Latin global phenomenon Bad Bunny. His album Debí Tirar Más Fotos earned him six nominations, including the coveted trifecta of Album, Record, and Song of the Year (for “DtMF”). According to reports, this makes Bad Bunny the first artist ever nominated in all three major categories for a primarily Spanish-language project.

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter and R&B’s exciting new star Leon Thomas also scored big, each securing six nominations. Carpenter is in the running for Album, Record, and Song of the Year for Man’s Best Friend and its hit single “Manchild,” while Thomas earned a coveted Album of the Year nod for MUTT and a spot in the Best New Artist lineup. Thomas took to social media to share his excitement, retweeting news of his nomination and thanking well-wishers.

The Best New Artist category itself is a showcase of fresh talent, featuring Thomas, Olivia Dean, KATSEYE, Addison Rae, sombr, Alex Warren, Lola Young, and The Marías. The Marías immediately celebrated on X, declaring themselves “your best new artist nominated band!!!!”
Adding to the buzz, the vocalists for KPop Demon Hunters were overjoyed as their track “Golden” scored multiple nominations. “One is enough. It’s more than enough. It’s so hard to achieve, but damn, getting multiple is just crazy,” EJAE told a reporter. Bandmate Audrey Nuna described a “rollercoaster” of emotions, while Rei Ami joked, “I blacked out. I’m still blacked out.”
It’s worth noting that the eligibility period for the 2026 Grammys (August 31, 2024, to August 30, 2025) left out some recent major releases, like Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl, creating space for new names to break through. With other major acts like Billie Eilish, Bruno Mars, and Tyler, the Creator also in the mix for top honors, the 68th Grammy Awards are guaranteed to be a night of unforgettable moments and well-deserved celebrations.
