Why Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell Keep Their Finances Separate

Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell have been married since 2007, but unlike many couples, they’ve always maintained separate bank accounts. During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the pair opened up about their financial arrangement—a decision they made early in their marriage.

“We keep our money completely separate,” Romijn revealed frankly on the show. Host Andy Cohen couldn’t resist joking about their setup, teasing O’Connell about his recent career shift: “Now that The Talk money isn’t coming in, Rebecca’s the breadwinner,” he quipped, referencing O’Connell’s three-year stint on the CBS daytime show, which ended in 2024.

While they handle most of their finances independently, the couple does have a shared “community pot” they contribute to quarterly—primarily for expenses related to their 16-year-old twins, Dolly and Charlie. But even that system is flexible.

“We actually throttle how much we put into that account sometimes,” O’Connell admitted.

“Depending on who’s working more,” Romijn added. “The one who’s not working gets a bit of a break, and the one who is picks up a little extra. We really tag-team it.”

The X-Men star and Stand By Me actor have been in sync since they met at a Maxim Hot 100 party in 2004, so aligning on finances felt natural. “That’s one of the first conversations you have when you decide to enter into a legal agreement together,” Romijn said of their decision to keep things separate.

Their parenting philosophy follows a similar collaborative approach. “When our girls were born, we agreed that one of us would always stay home with them,” Romijn shared. “No one else was going to raise them except us.”

Before O’Connell, Romijn was married to John Stamos for six years, divorcing in 2005. Since then, she and O’Connell have built a life together—both on and off-screen. They co-hosted The Real Love Boat in 2022 and even renewed their vows in 2011, proving that whether it’s money, parenting, or marriage, they’ve found a system that works for them.
