Why Rob Kardashian Left the Family Reality Show—And Why He’s Staying Out of the Spotlight

Rob Kardashian was once a regular on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and even had his own spinoff, Rob & Chyna. But after Season 13 of the hit E! series, he stepped back from reality TV—and has mostly stayed out of the public eye since.

Now, the 38-year-old is opening up about his decision to leave the cameras behind. During a recent appearance on his sister Khloé Kardashian’s podcast (July 16 episode), Rob explained why he prefers a more private life.

“I don’t want to film if I’m not comfortable,” he admitted over the phone. “I’m not confident in myself right now, so why would I put myself on camera and let people in when that’s not what I want?”

Though he’s made a few brief appearances on Hulu’s The Kardashians, Rob has largely avoided reality TV since Rob & Chyna ended in 2016. He’s focused instead on raising his 8-year-old daughter, Dream, whom he shares with ex Blac Chyna.

But despite his absence from the show, Rob insists there’s no family drama behind his decision. “There’s nothing wrong between any of us,” he clarified. “It’s just about me and where I’m at in life.”

That doesn’t mean he’s closed the door on reality TV forever. “I enjoy filming when it feels positive and natural,” he said. “Being around my family is great—I just have to be in the right headspace for it.”

Rob also got personal about his love life, revealing he hasn’t been in a serious relationship since Dream was born. “I’ve been single for eight years,” he told Khloé. “I talk to people, but I’m not actively dating. It’s just not a priority for me.”

While he admits he should probably put himself out there more, Rob says he’s content focusing on fatherhood. “Unless something happens naturally, I’m not looking for it,” he added. “Right now, my energy goes to Dream.”
