Erin Bates Faces Long Recovery After Sepsis Complicates Birth of Seventh Child

Erin Bates has returned home following a serious medical crisis that occurred after the birth of her seventh child. While grateful to be back with her family, the Bringing Up Bates alum still faces significant challenges, including the loss of function in her right leg.

In a heartfelt update posted to the joint Instagram account she shares with husband Chad Paine, Erin expressed her thankfulness for being reunited with their children after spending nearly three weeks in the hospital. “We still don’t have all the answers, and I still don’t have function in my right leg,” she shared, “but we are choosing to focus on our blessings—especially the gift of being together again.”

The message was accompanied by photos of Erin returning home in a wheelchair, holding their newborn son Henry, as well as tender images from the hospital and their car ride home.

The health scare began after Erin endured what her husband described as a “long and emotionally taxing labor.” Shortly afterward, she developed a severe kidney infection and UTI that led to septic shock. On September 3, she suffered what Chad referred to as a “prolonged and severe seizure,” which resulted in her being readmitted to the ICU.

Throughout the ordeal, the couple felt uplifted by the support and prayers from their community. “Your prayers have carried us,” Erin wrote, “and they mean the world to our family.”

Now home, Erin is receiving help from her mother, Kelly Jo Bates, who has been providing home-cooked meals and support. “So thankful to have my Mom here to help us navigate this journey!” Erin posted on Instagram earlier this week.

Erin and Chad are also parents to Carson (10), Brooklyn (8), Everly (7), Holland (5), Finley (3), and William (22 months). Despite the uncertainty, the family remains hopeful and grateful to be facing the future together.

Jessica Simpson recently shared a humorous and unexpected story about reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend, former NFL quarterback Tony Romo

The scene was the 2025 Women Who Rock Benefit Concert in Pittsburgh, where Simpson took the stage and delighted the audience with a curious tale. According to fan footage from the event, everything started with a phone call—to her mom.

“A couple weeks ago, my mom got a phone call,” Jessica told the crowd. “It was Tony, calling my mom, saying, ‘Well, Tina, I’m selling the boat.’” Her mother, seemingly puzzled, simply replied, “OK… and?”

Turns out, the boat in question was the same speedboat—reportedly worth around $100,000—that Simpson had gifted Romo for his 28th birthday back in 2009. Apparently, her name was still on the title.

“So then I get paperwork in the mail,” Jessica explained, “and I have to sign over this boat so he can finally sell it.”

But the real punchline came when Romo tried to thank her. Instead of flowers or a heartfelt note, his gratitude came in the form of… plastic cups.

“He gave me plastic cups,” Simpson joked, quipping to the audience: “I was like, ‘Wow… I’m really glad we didn’t work out.’”

The two dated from 2007 to 2009 before going their separate ways. Simpson went on to marry former NFL player Eric Johnson in 2014. The couple share three children: Maxwell, Ace, and Birdie.

Earlier this year, however, Simpson confirmed that she and Johnson had separated after nearly a decade together. In a statement posted in January, she emphasized that their focus remains on co-parenting and putting their children first.

Now, Simpson is making a return to music after stepping away from the industry for more than 15 years. She just released a new project, Nashville Canyon, Pt. 2, on September 4th.

And although she’s been busy with her musical comeback, she was also spotted recently with ex Eric Johnson—while supporting her sister Ashlee Simpson at her Las Vegas residency. TMZ captured video of the two keeping it friendly but low-key among a group of friends. There was no PDA, and no confirmation of anything more—leaving fans guessing about what this reconnection might really mean.

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn are engaged! The beloved couple made the exciting announcement during the 2025 Emmy Awards red carpet, confirming they are set to marry after five years together.

In an interview with E! News, correspondent Zuri Hall referred to the pair—both stars of the sitcom Happy’s Place—as fiancés. McEntire, 70, beamed as she responded, “We’re having a blast on Happy’s Place and so glad to be here tonight.” People magazine later verified their engagement.

Though they began dating in 2020, McEntire and Linn, 68, first met decades earlier. The country music icon and the actor crossed paths on the set of The Gambler opposite Kenny Rogers back in 1991. They reconnected years later while working on Young Sheldon. It was after the passing of McEntire’s mother that Linn reached out to offer his support—a gesture that sparked their romance.

“Rex and I kept in touch over the years,” McEntire shared during a 2021 appearance on Today. “When my mother became ill, he called me. We started talking more in March 2020, and by June we were seeing each other. We’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since.”

This will be the third marriage for McEntire. She was first wed to steer wrestling champion Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987, during which time she became stepmother to his two sons. In 1989, she married talent manager Narvel Blackstock. Together they had one daughter, Shelby, and McEntire helped raise his three children from a previous marriage—including Brandon Blackstock, the late ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, who passed away last month. McEntire and Blackstock divorced in 2015.

During Sunday’s Emmy ceremony, McEntire also took the stage to honor the legacy of The Golden Girls, performing the classic theme song alongside country artists Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman.

Chase Stokes and Kelsea Ballerini have ended their relationship after nearly three years together

The news was confirmed by TMZ on Sunday. A source close to Ballerini told PEOPLE, “They’re two adults who gave it their all and tried everything to make it work, but ultimately couldn’t. It happens.”

The breakup seems especially sudden given that Stokes, star of the hit series Outer Banks, posted a carousel of photos celebrating Ballerini’s 32nd birthday only two days prior. The photos captured sweet moments from their time together, and Stokes wrote in the caption: “although you keep saying you’re not excited for 32, id say I’m lookin forward to more of this. happy birthday my love.”

Fans quickly flocked to the comments section of that post after news of the split broke, expressing confusion and seeking answers.

“How did they go from this to breaking up? News just broke,” wrote one follower. Another commented, “Guys I need answers. Who else is here looking for ANSWERS!?” A third added, “You posted this two days ago and People says you broke up today? I’m not following. Confused! Hoping it’s not true.”

Rumors of Stokes and the country singer’s relationship first began in January 2023, when Stokes posted a cozy picture of the two at a college football game. They made their official debut as a couple that April on the red carpet at the CMT Awards.

In a September 2024 interview with PEOPLE, Stokes opened up about how they maintained their connection despite busy schedules. He emphasized making time for each other, saying they tried to “never go more than three weeks” without seeing one another.

“If we need to make the effort to show up when one’s across the country, we do it,” he explained. “The amount of effort that we put into our careers, we should be doubling that in our personal lives.” He added, “It’s not always easy and it’s not always convenient, but having a big, beautiful life didn’t come from convenience or ease.”

Before dating Stokes, Ballerini was married to musician Morgan Evans. Reflecting on her past relationship and her time with Stokes, Ballerini noted how her perspective on love had evolved.

“I didn’t really have an example of what a solid relationship looked like in my developmental years. I learned the hard way,” she shared. “Now my version of love that I’ve found, it’s steady and it’s human, and we work on it. That, to me, honestly, is the sexiest thing—like, ‘Hey, you want to go to therapy? Let’s go to therapy.’ Being so down with your person to put in the work for each other and individually, it’s a very new kind of love for me.”

Dream Kardashian Steals the Show at NYFW with Her Adorable Runway Walk!

The youngest Kardashian is making waves again! Dream Kardashian, the 8-year-old daughter of Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian, returned to New York Fashion Week for another stunning runway appearance.

Dressed in a chic black blazer dress with delicate ruffled sleeves, Dream confidently walked the catwalk in classic black Converse high-tops. Her long wavy hair was styled in a half-up, half-down look, and she flashed a bright smile throughout her walk—even sharing a sweet moment with her cheering mom, Blac Chyna (born Angela White), who was captured on video applauding and supporting her daughter.

Although Dream’s father, Rob Kardashian, didn’t appear to be present, the excitement was undeniable. The specific show she walked in hasn’t been confirmed, but one thing’s clear: Dream owned the runway.

This year marks Dream’s second time at New York Fashion Week. She made her debut last September for the children’s brand Zeus & Lexi Kids. Her parents announced the exciting news on Dream’s Instagram account at the time, posting: “Walking my first fashion show in NYC… I’m so excited. Thank you @zeusandlexikids.”

Chyna also shared a heartfelt message on her own profile, writing: “So proud of my baby girl @dream.”

Dream is certainly following in the footsteps of her famous relatives. Her aunts Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner have all graced the runway, as have her grandmother Kris Jenner and cousin North West. It looks like talent runs in the family!

Charlie Kirk, a prominent and often divisive conservative activist, was fatally shot on Wednesday while speaking at a public event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was 31 years old.

According to local authorities, the shooting was carried out by a sniper positioned in a nearby building. Kirk was participating in a student Q&A when he was struck. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Former President Donald Trump announced Kirk’s death in a post on Truth Social, describing him as “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk.” Trump added, “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me.” Trump also extended his and Melania’s condolences to Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their family.

Kirk first rose to national prominence in 2012 when, at age 18, he co-founded Turning Point USA. The organization grew into one of the country’s largest conservative youth groups. Kirk served as its executive director and later expanded his influence by founding Turning Point Action in 2019, its political advocacy arm, and Turning Point Faith in 2021, aimed at engaging religious leaders.

A staunch supporter of Donald Trump, Kirk was a vocal advocate for a range of conservative causes, including opposition to critical race theory, skepticism toward COVID-19 policies, and questions about election integrity. He hosted a highly popular podcast and cable news show, through which he amplified these views.

In early January 2021, Kirk promoted bus caravans to Washington, D.C., ahead of the Capitol riot. He later distanced himself from the events of January 6th, describing them as unrepresentative of mainstream Trump supporters. Kirk also played a significant role in Trump’s successful 2024 reelection campaign.

His work earned him a spot on the 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Law & Policy. Kirk was the author of several books on conservatism, such as The MAGA Doctrine and Campus Battlefield. His podcast, The Charlie Kirk Show, was among the most listened-to political shows, though a Brookings Institution study from February 2023 found it contained a high rate of misleading claims.

Kirk married Erika Frantzve, a former Miss Arizona USA and fellow podcaster, in May 2021. The couple had two children: one born in August 2022 and another in May 2024.

News of his death prompted an outpouring of reactions from public figures across the political spectrum.

Vice President JD Vance shared President Trump’s statement on X, adding, “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.”

President Joe Biden also issued a statement, saying, “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Senator John McCain, posted a family photo of Kirk on Instagram, calling him “one of the best that ever was” and praising his ability to unite different factions within the Republican Party.

Jack Schlossberg, grandson of President John F. Kennedy, wrote on X: “Charlie Kirk was assassinated today. We are all weaker because of it. A tragedy. I am thinking of his family.”

Selena Gomez Opens Up About Body Shaming and Her Personal Journey

Selena Gomez is speaking candidly about the persistent public scrutiny regarding her weight and how she’s learned to cope with hurtful comments. In a recent cover story for Allure’s Best of Beauty issue, the singer and Rare Beauty founder got real about the fat-shaming she has faced throughout her career—and the tools she uses to protect her mental and emotional well-being.

“I’ve struggled with weight issues my whole life, and it’s something I’m really sensitive about,” Gomez shared. Over the years, the 31-year-old has been transparent about how lupus, an autoimmune disease she lives with, causes her body to change. These fluctuations—often side effects of medication or the condition itself—have frequently made her the target of criticism.

In the interview, Gomez emphasized how dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) has helped her process negative emotions triggered by body-shaming. DBT, a form of therapy designed to help people manage intense emotions and improve relationships, has given her practical skills to work through painful moments.

She offered an example: “If someone calls me fat, instead of shutting down, I’ve learned to pause and ask myself: Why does this hurt? Where is this coming from?” Often, she traces those feelings back to past experiences—like dealing with medical treatments that caused weight gain.

Gomez also shared that her therapist provides her with helpful tools, like cue cards with guided questions, which help her navigate emotional challenges in real time. “You have to be willing to put in the work,” she acknowledged. “It isn’t easy.”

This isn’t the first time Gomez has stood up to body-shamers. Last November, after the premiere of Emilia Pérez, she responded to critics on TikTok who commented on her appearance. She revealed she was dealing with SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), a chronic intestinal condition that causes physical swelling and discomfort.

“This makes me sick,” she wrote. “I have SIBO. It flares up. I don’t care about not looking like a stick figure—I never have. I’m not a victim. I’m human.”

More recently, in July 2024, Gomez responded to online speculation that she’d undergone plastic surgery. Commenting on a TikTok video from a medical professional, she set the record straight: “Honestly, I hate this. I’m bloated because of a flare-up. I’ve had Botox, yes—but that’s it. Leave me alone.”

Through it all, Gomez continues to use her voice to promote body acceptance and mental health awareness—encouraging others to show themselves compassion in the face of criticism.

Emma Heming Willis Opens Up About Difficult Family Decision Regarding Bruce Willis’ Care

In a deeply personal revelation, Emma Heming Willis is sharing one of the most challenging moments of her life—telling her young daughters that their father, actor Bruce Willis, would be moving into a specialized care home.

The decision was first discussed publicly during Emma’s interview with Diane Sawyer last month, and now, in her new book, The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path, she offers an intimate look into how she broke the news to Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11.

She sat the girls down and gently explained, “We’ve reached a stage in Daddy’s illness where he needs a different kind of care—one designed especially for where he is now. And you deserve a home that supports you, too.” She emphasized, “Daddy would want you to have friends over, enjoy sleepovers, and live your lives fully. Nothing would make him happier.”

Emma made sure they knew it would be a “second home”—a familiar space filled with their own toys, art supplies, pajamas, and games. She reassured them that they could visit whenever they wanted and even stay over.

Still, she acknowledges how painful the transition has been. “The girls have grown up aware of his condition, and they understand. This move is meant to support Bruce’s safety and well-being while allowing the kids to thrive. But that doesn’t make it easy,” Emma shared. “This isn’t the future we envisioned. Some things you just can’t prepare for.”

Last month, in her conversation with Sawyer, Emma called it “one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make.” But her focus remained on what Bruce would want. “Above all,” she said, “Bruce would prioritize the kids—making sure they’re in a environment that meets their needs, not just his.”

Sawyer, who visited Bruce off-camera, noted that he seemed content. “When we arrived, Bruce appeared happy and healthy—walking, present. We sat together outside, and at one point, he quietly took my hand. I reminisced about the old days, and every so often, I’d see that unforgettable smile.”

Kristin Cavallari recently opened up about stepping back from her podcast, leaving TikTok, and even changing her phone number—all in the name of protecting her peace.

On the latest episode of her Let’s Be Honest podcast, the reality TV star and entrepreneur shared that she’s entering a new chapter. “Lately I’ve been in this really unique headspace. It feels like a turning point—I’m fired up, excited, but also kind of rebellious,” Cavallari explained. “And that’s actually a pretty familiar feeling for me.”

To direct that energy in a constructive way, she decided to make some changes. First up: deleting TikTok from her phone. Though her account remains active, she’s no longer scrolling through the app. Cavallari said the move is about taking control over what—and who—she allows into her life.

“We all get to choose what we let in,” she noted. “We can filter what content we see, who gets access to us, and whose opinions matter.” She realized that TikTok, in particular, was overwhelming her with constant information and other people’s viewpoints—something she was absorbing almost subconsciously.

Along the same lines, Cavallari also decided to change her phone number. “Protecting my inner peace is everything,” she said. “I’ve worked really hard to create a calm, peaceful life, and I’m not going to let anything disrupt that.”

She admitted she’s been in a “weird funk” ever since the recent press tour for her podcast and TV show, Honestly Cavallari. Being in the spotlight left her feeling overly exposed—flooded with opinions and energy from all directions.

What made things trickier was her TikTok algorithm, which—thanks to her high profile—kept showing her videos about herself. “It drives me crazy,” she confessed. Though she tries not to read comments online, she still ends up seeing some, and realized she needed to draw stronger boundaries.

Cavallari also critiqued social media more broadly, calling it a platform that often preys on insecurity. “It makes us question things we’d never normally doubt,” she said, citing viral fear-based topics like mold toxicity. “We’ve lost the ability to listen to ourselves.”

She described phones overall as a “numbing agent,” pulling people away from their own thoughts. That’s part of why she not only changed her number, but was very intentional about who received the new one. “If you’re meant to be in my life, you’ll find a way to reach me,” she said.

As for her podcast, Cavallari clarified that she’s only taking a short break. She plans to use the time offline to play board games with her three kids—Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor—and even learn Italian.

She wrapped up by thanking listeners for their support and hinted at her return: she’ll be recording episodes for The Hills podcast as soon as she’s back from hiatus.

Glen Powell is finally speaking out about his highly publicized split from longtime girlfriend Gigi Paris, which unfolded amid a whirlwind of romance rumors with his Anyone But You co-star, Sydney Sweeney.

In a recent cover story for GQ, the actor opened up for the first time about the breakup. The end of his relationship with Paris coincided with intense speculation about a possible off-screen romance between Powell and Sweeney as they promoted their hit romantic comedy.

Earlier this summer, Paris claimed that Powell and the film’s producers had asked her not to visit the set while rumors about the co-stars were circulating. While speaking with GQ, Powell didn’t directly confirm or deny her version of events but emphasized his focus on promoting the movie.

“I will always have nothing but love for her and respect for her,” Powell stated. “Everybody’s always going to have their own narrative on things. And she’s welcome to it.”

He went on to reflect on the nature of breakups, adding, “Relationships are really hard. When two people break up, they each go to their own brunch and tell their own story.”

Powell also shared a piece of advice he received from his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Tom Cruise during the media storm: “He basically said, ‘Hey, it’s going to get really, really loud. It’s your job to just turn the volume down.’ Just remember you have your hand on that switch. You have the ability to turn up that noise or turn it down.’ Trusting my own gut has been a real godsend for me.”

The speculation began in early 2023, when Powell and Sweeney’s red carpet chemistry and joint press tour fueled dating rumors—ultimately overshadowing Powell’s real-life relationship with Paris. Shortly after, news broke that he and Paris had ended their more than three-year relationship. Although Powell and Sweeney consistently denied being romantically involved, the narrative had already taken off.

During a June appearance on the Too Much podcast, Paris shared her perspective for the first time. Without naming names, she alluded to the difficult period when rumors first emerged.

“I was gloating about him at work, opened Instagram, and saw I was being tagged in something he had posted,” Paris recalled. “I screenshot it and wrote, ‘Hey, the whole world is watching what you’re saying—please proceed with caution.’ That wasn’t received well.” She described that moment as the beginning of a “steady decline,” noting it happened six months before they actually broke up.

Paris explained that she felt pressured to play along with the Hollywood promotion machine. “It was just, ‘This is what I have to do for my job,’” she recalled hearing from Powell. Faced with two options—either pretending everything was fine or standing up for herself—she chose the latter. “I was shattered,” she said.

She also revealed that she had been in the process of securing a work visa to join Powell in Australia while he was filming, just as the media storm hit. “I just wanted respect, especially if it’s gonna be public,” Paris explained. “Don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years. Have some decency.”

“At the end of the day, it was like, work comes first,” she added. “And if that’s the case, power to you—that’s your priority. I’ve got to walk away. What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs.”

Powell’s interview comes just weeks after Sweeney once again addressed the dating rumors that dominated headlines during the film’s promotional tour.
